Zumba

So, I had my first experience of Zumba.

I’m a member of ActivFitness in Horgen, which unfortunately doesn’t have classes, however the benefits of this membership means I can use any of the studios. The Wadenswil studio is the one closest to home that runs Zumba class.

So on Monday night I braved it and headed to Wadenswil alone for this class, on arriving at the gym I could already see there were a lot of people going to be in this class… in the end as the class started there must have been 30 people. Which sounds too busy but actually it was perfect as trying to get to grips with Zumba made it good to be able to hide in the crowd. I’m not the most co-ordinated of people sometimes and Zumba was all about following the steps and just getting on with it. The class started with no warm up, just straight into it! The instructor was good and allowed breaks for water in between songs, after 50 mins I was glad when we began to cool down and stretch it out.

Overall though it was a great class, a lot of fun and definitely a good way to work out working muscles that you dont normally work out in the gym :)

Horgen

Sometimes I forget how much I love being in Horgen, because we are often busy at weekends and wrapped up in something during the week we dont enjoy and value living here as much as we should. Yes, we appreciate the goods view from the house and the fact that we live in Switzerland, but it wasn’t until today that I remembered the other reasons….

Having had a stressful and annoying day at work I was dying to do something tonight… having managed to complete my studies to free up tonight and both getting away from work early enough, we got home, got changed, grabbed the dogs and headed down to the lake. Bliss! We picked a part of the lake with a stoney beach to make it more fun for the dogs, spent most of the time throwing their safestix in for them and went for a little swim ourselves, it was bliss and one of the reasons I love living in Horgen is the ability to pop to the lake for a swim after work… just wish we did it more often.

Saying that, you dont have see some strange sights, one women happily taking her horse for a swim :)

Biking home from work

So, in my wisdom I decided that it would be good to try out a different route on the way home from work. The route was actually more challenging, there was more up than my usual route, but in fact the route was more pleasant, better scenery, less traffic and more of a challenge. Only problem was, I didn’t exactly know which way i was going and where I’d end up… so was very grateful when the biking trail met somewhere I actually knew…

Think going forward I’ll keep progressing with the new route and expand on that one
